hand carved Wooden claddagh ring
The design of my wooden Claddagh rings is inspired by that of rings popular throughout Europe during the middle ages. Rings in this motif are part of a group of finger rings from Roman times that were called Fede (faith) rings. The design of two hands clasping a heart and crown became the symbol of the "fisher kings" of Claddagh, a small village near Galway, Ireland. It is said that when the ring is worn on the right hand with the crown turned outward you are "heart-whole and fancy free." Worn on the left hand with the crown turned outward, the ring tells the world that you are truly spoken for.
